regina spektor sings for haiti

This past Tuesday, my friend Meytal and I had the chance to see Regina Spektor along with a few of her friends perform a benefit concert for Doctors Without Borders. Proceeds for the event went particularly towards the relief in Haiti.

Little can be said... and not many words can describe any of her performances. Seeing her perform is always a surreal-- completely surreal experience. The talent and her ability to reflect the world is overwhelming. All involved were so talented. What a special night.

rodarte and scott sternberg get crafty for haiti

Growing up attending Quaker school from K-12, there was always a ton of community service going on... and always a lot of really creative people coming up with unique and fun ways to make a difference in the world. When I read about this cause, which features crafts donated by well known artists, musicians, and designers, I couldn't help but be enamored and really impressed with the  drive to make such a difference.

Living in the fast-paced New York, we sometimes forget about all that is going on in the world... Please check out the websites and bid.

"It's really a wonder that I haven't dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything I still believe that people are really good at heart."

good television

Why aren't all workplaces like this? Correction--- all workplaces SHOULD be like this. David E. Kelly is genius.

I watch this clip whenever I'm having a bad day.

I miss Ally McBeal so much. What's better than same sex bathrooms, Barry White, knowing your "theme song," and a dancing baby? I just ordered the first season on dvd and can't wait to watch... What's your theme song?

Oh, and I kind of want to be John Cage's best friend. Or marry him. Or both.

I was fifteen.

you know how honesty can sometimes make you feel old plain? you know how sometimes you can't control the emergence of memories on a daily basis? you know the chain reaction?

the things that are keeping me alive right now

1. Core Fusion classes at Exhale Spa SoHo (and going with Sha-Rayray at 8:30am)
2. The fact that Bubby's is 24 hours from Tuesday through Sunday -- which means scrambled eggs with seven grain toast and bacon or a cobb salad whenever I please. When I can't sleep I have been going to read Patti Smith's Just Kids...
3. Iced coffee from Saturdays (more like a Red Eye...)
4. Diddy Kong Racing on N64. No explanation needed.
5. My dad's sweaters and vintage sweatpants
6. Tissues
